They say when one door closes another opens, the Shire of Kulin is all about opening doors and will do so again for the official opening of the newly refurbished Shire of Kulin Administration and Kulin Community Resource Centre building.
In an ever changing business environment the Shire of Kulin has made the decision to incorporate three major Shire services into the one building to utilise the shared resources.
Former Chief Executive Officer Greg Hadlow was a key driver behind the co-location idea stating ‘demand for better efficiency was paramount in our decision to share resources.
‘It was a sustainable way we could continue to deliver these key services to the Shire which is a Community Resource Centre, Visitor Information Centre and the Shire Administration.
‘We realised that the activities required to run a CRC, a visitor centre and a Shire often had similar objectives, so under one roof we are all able to support each other.
‘The Shire of Kulin has a clear cut strategy to increase tourism in the Shire and providing a visitor information centre to service the regular self-drive market just makes sense.
‘Next on the agenda for the Shire of Kulin is to become an accredited visitor centre and gain recognition as a quality destination not only for the self-drive market but weekend getaways for families.
‘We have great facilities, great people and great local businesses’ said Mr Hadlow.
The near new building took 13 months of construction undertaken by predominantly local trades people and was partly funded by Royalties for Regions Country Local Government Funds.
The Shire of Kulin Administration building services now include a visitor centre, souvenir shop, meeting rooms for hire, computer and video conferencing technology, medical centre with an onsite doctor two days a week, council chambers and shire administration.
Other Shire of Kulin facilities also include the Freebairn Recreation Centre, Camp Kulin, Kulin Child Care, Giant Water Slide and Aquatic Centre.
The official opening of the Shire of Kulin Administration and Kulin Community Resource Centre is on Friday June 24 at 4pm in the building. The opening includes a tour of the building with afternoon tea provided.
