Facilities

When choosing a venue for your next function, consider the Freebairn Recreation Centre. The centre offers a variety of facilities to suit any occasion. We have rooms available for various size conferences and seminars. Each meeting or event can be tailored to meet your individual requirements. There is an extensive range of presentation and audio visual equipment available.

As well as the function rooms we have two indoor courts available for hire to host the perfect event or exhibition. There are roller doors located at the side of the building to allow easy access for large equipment or plant. With ample parking and a central location this is one of the best facilities the Wheatbelt has to offer.

Phil Freebairn Room

The Phil Freebairn Room can cater for a vast range of functions from kids birthday parties to large seminars. With an inbuilt projector and projector screen, flat screen TV, wireless internet and a large carpeted area, this room can be transformed to suit any occasion.

Sports Hall

The Sports Hall is a fully lit court area which provides a variety of indoor sports, including netball, hockey, basketball, badminton, volleyball, tennis, soccer and cricket. The hall is also available for hire for large functions, catering for up to 500 people. It has an adjacent commercial kitchen and kiosk, which can double as a bar service area if required.

Meeting Room

The Meeting Room has the capacity to seat approximately 20 people, with an inbuilt projector screen, power, whiteboard and all of the privacy you will need for your next meeting, seminar or conference.

Kitchen

Kitchen is adjacent to the sports hall, making the centre ideal for functions of any size. It meets Health Department standards as a commercial kitchen, so can be used for food preparation by local businesses. There is plenty of bench top space, a large stove, oven, warmer and deep fryer. There is also a kiosk area on the oval and sports hall sides making it ideal for all sporting functions. The extensive stainless steel bench tops make the ideal location for a variety of cooking.

GYM

The Centre includes is a fully functional gym with exercise bikes, pulling and pushing machines, free weights and much more. All of your strength, cardio and wellbeing requirements can be fulfilled. With the comfort of a reverse cycle air conditioner, iPod connectivity, uni-sex toilet/shower facilities and guidance from an onsite fitness professional, the gym has everything you will require to keep fit and looking great!

Sporting Oval

The grassed Oval has a full sized football ground, 2 hockey fields and a synthetic cricket pitch. The oval has easy access to 4 unisex change room facilities and an umpires change room. A timekeepers box with perfect view of the football ground is available along with space for ample parking for those raining days.

Bowling Green

The Bowling Green is a 12 rink synthetic green which can be fully lit for night bowls.

Tennis Courts

The Tennis Courts are partially lit with a total of eight synthetic courts.

Freebairn Recreation Centre Employment Opportunity

The Freebairn Recreation Centre is seeking capable and enthusiastic staff to undertake the following positions associated with running the bar and function components of the FRC. These include:

  • Permanent Part-time Bar Attendant
  • Casual Bar Staff
  • Part-time Facility Cleaner

Primary duties include hospitality responsibilities, bar service, as well as cleaning and maintenance of the bar facilities in the centre’s function areas. Hours for each position are negotiable with an ongoing requirement for at least 30 hours per week across an individual role with another 30-50 hours across casual roles dependent upon facility bookings.

Applicants must possess RSA certification and ideally have experience within the hospitality industry.  On the job training will be provided.

This is a multi-faceted role and we are seeking applicants who have the desire to become involved and be a key-player in the operations of the FRC.  Weekend work will form a significant component of the role.

Key Points:

  • Employed under Local Government Industry Award 2020 (salary negotiable dependent upon final role and responsibilities)
  • Must be adaptable, possess great time management skills and exhibit initiative.
  • RSA certification is required.
  • Uniform provided.
  • A vehicle would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Accommodation potentially available via negotiation dependent upon final role.

The position is available on an ongoing basis with a starting date to be negotiated.
