What is involved?
As a Councillor you would be involved in running an organisation with the responsibility of making decisions that have a major impact on our lifestyle. As a representative of your community you will find the role enjoyable, challenging and stimulating with involvement in matters as diverse as recreation, libraries, the environment, town planning, health, roads and many more. Meeting fees and some expenses are paid.
Who can nominate?
Any person who is an Australian Citizen over the age of 18 years who is an elector of the district and is not disqualified under the Local Government Act 1995 may nominate for council. It is not a requirement that a candidate lives or owns property in the ward for which they nominate (if wards used).
Nomination Time and Place
Candidates are required to lodge with the RETURNING OFFICER:
the Shire Office or via the website www.kulin.wa.gov.au
proposed candidate and statements of the candidate’s policies or beliefs. The profile may include
a recent passport-sized photograph (optional).
The documents may be hand delivered, posted or emailed to the Returning Officer and must be received by the close of nominations.
