It’s galloping around the corner and we’re almost on the home straight as the community of Kulin prepares for the 22nd annual Kulin Bush Races held on Saturday, October 1.
Always a local favourite, the seven race bush program is a uniquely Australian event providing an iconic regional experience like no other.
Drawing an inside barrier every time, the hugely family-orientated day has also attracted a large caravanning following in recent years, with the races hosting many local and interstate travellers for a full weekend of events.
Kulin Bush Races President Graeme Robertson said, “If you haven’t been out to our neck of the woods now is a great time.
‘It’s been a fantastic growing season this year so the scenery is just magic, come out and enjoy true rural hospitality for the weekend.’
This year’s line-up of events is sure to have something for everyone with live entertainment all weekend, Friday night markets, Tin Horse competition, Gymkhana, Kid’s Tent, fireworks and more.
The Kulin Cup is sure to be hotly contested with the race program starting at 12.30pm on the Saturday while Perth Band Switch and DJ Simon S are playing Saturday night alongside our famous open bonfire.
This year because the races fall on the AFL Grand Final weekend why not grab your mates and head to the Bush Races to watch the broadcast live? You will find the game on a large screen in the main marquee tent, or in the bar.
Camping is free Saturday night so BYO caravan and swags. The gates open from 8.30am Saturday morning, kicking off with the Gymkhana and numerous novelty events.
The Kulin Bush Races is run by a dedicated committee of local volunteers, focused on making their community a better place to live. Over the past 20 years the Kulin Bush Races has put more than one million dollars back into community initiatives such as medical equipment, aged care, local facilities, recreational facilities and education programs.
Tickets are available at the gate - $40 for adults, $10 for children aged 13 – 17, for children 12 and under FREE.
